In Orange County, California, the Five Star Wealth Manager list is published by Orange Coast Magazine.

The surveys are administered by Crescendo Business Services. Candidates are rated using 10-point criteria. They are asked to submit a profile of themselves, describing their practice over the last five years. Candidates have to certify that their information is true and accurate.

After this initial process, candidates are evaluated for possible judicial, civil, or regulatory complaints lodged with the State Board of Accountancy, State Bar, the SEC, and FINRA.
